India poised to tender for 1GW of wind power, says official

Indian wind developer Mytrah has welcomed plans by the Indian government to launch the country's first competitive wind-power tenders as "a very positive move".

Bob Smith, head of international business at Mytrah – one of the most ambitious players in the Indian market, with 826MW in operation and a 3GW pipeline – told Recharge a move to auctions could help it to make the most of its substantial, data-rich project base, and aid the cross-state trading of wind power in India.
