Austria celebrated Global Wind Day face to face with a wind turbine

To celebrate Global Wind Day 2015, the Austrian champion in slacklining Peter Auer tested the world’s first highline on a wind turbine in Vienna. At 50 meters height the national champion showed his skills and commented: “Up there face to face with a wind turbine - I will never forget it!“.

Wind power tour – one week travel across wind farms

Tired of  stories about low frequency noise and other anti-wind topics the Austrian Wind Energy Association (AWEA) accepted the challenge: Florian Maringer, member of AWEA, went on a 300 km journey through the windy part of Austria. During one week he travelled from one wind farm to another with his dog “Caja“ and slept under the turbines. He met different stakeholders connected to wind power in  one way or another including people working with wind power, mayors, actors, journalists, wine growers, environmentalists, a priest, a doctor and two rally drivers. After sleeping under wind turbines for a week, the crane sites under the turbines started being a bit challenging for camping but otherwise life surrounded by wind power was fun in combination with a vivid, open and creative industry. You can see some pictures and videos of the tour here.
