During the inauguration of the International Congress Mexico Wind Power 2015 in Mexico City, the Minister of Energy Pedro Joaquín Coldwell emphasized that wind power in Mexico is a fundamental part of the new electricity market to be held in Mexico as a result of the Energy Reform approved by the Congress.
On behalf of President Enrique Peña Nieto, the minister said the Energy Reform was conducted in two aspects, oil and electricity, with a strong push for clean energy and helping to expand the market for the benefit of consumers. Despite being a young industry, wind power in Mexico is opening a path for humanity, which in our country is being confirmed he said.
In his turn Adrian Escofet, president of the Mexican Wind Energy Association emphasized communication between the government of President Enrique Peña and members of the wind industry, which has allowed to build 31 wind farms in eight years and 6 developing with investments exceeding 14 billion dollars.
The representative of industrial wind power in Mexico said that during the two days of work of Mexico Wind Power, renewable energy experts from Mexico and other countries will share experiences and to discuss market mechanisms must be defined to meet renewable energy goals referred.

Then the Minister Pedro Joaquín Coldwell cut the ribbon of the exhibition, which is the most important exhibition of power generation technology in Latin America, formed by the most important wind project developers worldwide and 82 companies from Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Mexico, Spain and the United States.
This international event, held for the third time in Mexico, is particularly relevant for the papers to be presented and topics that will be discussed, from the new legal framework from the Energy Reform that was passed last year in Congress of the Union. With this event, the Mexican Wind Energy Association, AC continues its work to expand and spread the potential of wind energy in Mexico, as well as generating investments to an energy transition towards renewable energy sources, so it has as one of its main objectives to develop about 15 GW for wind 2020-2022.
At the opening ceremony were present also Mr. Paul St. Amour, Vice President for Latin America EJ Krause & Associates; Hon. Ham Henrik Bramsen, Danish Ambassador to Mexico; Dr. Enrique Ochoa, Director General of the Federal Electricity Commission; Hon. Luis Fernández Cid, Ambassador of Spain in Mexico and Mr. Steve Sawyer, Secretary General of the Global Wind Energy Council.
For two days, the best technology on energy and the best specialists in the field, convened by the Mexican Wind Energy Association (AMDEE), the Global Wind Energy Council GWEC (for its acronym in English) and EJ Krause of Mexico, will make Mexico City the capital of renewable energy.
