The Victorian State Government released a renewable energy roadmap in the middle of 2015, and ran a submission process to define the way forward. Among several interesting new initiatives is a renewable energy purchase equivalent to around 100 MW of wind energy. A tender should be announced shortly.
The Clean Energy Council attended meetings and workshops and produced a written submission which you can view online.
Women in Renewables
The Clean Energy Council’s successful Women in Renewables initiative continued in late 2015 with the second lunch event held in October as part of the All-Energy Exhibition and Conference in Melbourne. The event provided the opportunity to network and discuss ways for women at all levels in the renewable energy sector to build their profiles.
The event was open to all women in the sector, as well as people of any gender who would like to discuss how they can support the equality agenda.
In late November, the Clean Energy Council announced it would award a scholarship for women in the industry to undertake a directorship course. More details will be available on the Clean Energy Council website in early 2016: www.cleanenergycouncil.org.au/women
Wind Industry Forum 2016 - March
The Clean Energy Council is getting ready for Wind Industry Forum 2016, our annual technical conference in Melbourne. Aimed at the hundreds of Australians who design, plan, build and operate our wind farms, the event brings together experts from a range of fields to share ideas and continually improve our industry. Come along to speak or hear about electrical connection, turbine design innovations, planning rules, noise and wind measurement techniques and more. The program will be announced in coming days so keep an eye on the website. Visit cleanenergycouncil.org.au/wif for more details.
