Vestas CEO Anders Runevad highlighted ongoing cost-of-energy reductions as a key challenge for the wind industry, as he said the sector has the potential to double global capacity by the end of the decade.

Runevad said if current trends continue "we have the potential to double cumulative wind energy installations worldwide over the next five years".

Global capacity stood at 370GW at the end of 2014, according to the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).
