GWEC to launch GWEC India to help develop India’s vast wind power potential and support green recovery

Today, the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) announced that they will establish GWEC India to work with government and stakeholders to renew momentum around wind power development and support India in achieving its ambitious renewable energy targets. GWEC: Wind power industry to install 71.3 GW in 2020, showing resilience during COVID-19 crisis

According to the latest market outlook published today by GWEC Market Intelligence, 71.3 GW of wind power capacity is expected to be installed in 2020 despite the impacts of COVID-19, which is only a 6 per cent reduction from pre-COVID forecasts. This is a significant increase from original predictions that expected wind power installations to be reduced by up to 20 per cent due to the pandemic, demonstrating the resilience of the wind power industry across the globe.

GWEC calls on Vietnamese government to extend wind tariff and maintain regional leadership in clean energy investment

An industry alliance led by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) has called on the Government of Vietnam to urgently extend the wind energy Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) scheme.
