New Vice-Chair and Board members elected

23 June 2022 | Today the Global Wind Energy Council held its Annual General Meeting and Spring/Summer board meeting. GWEC’s plans received strong support from both corporates and association members.

GWEC CEO Ben Backwell said: “We are excited to receive a strong mandate for our work at the heart of the industry as we head into a pivotal era of growth in both onshore and offshore wind sectors. As world strives to achieve Net Zero and energy security, the challenges ahead are best tackled by working together. This means GWEC’s role at the centre of collaboration between industry, policymakers and international bodies will be more vital than ever in the coming period.”

GWEC is delighted to announce that Morten Dyrholm, from Vestas, and Elbia Gannoum, from ABEEolica, were returned to their Chair and Vice-Chair (for associations) positions. Adam Bruce, from Mainstream Renewable Power, was elected to join them as the new Vice-Chair for the Corporate membership.

GWEC also welcomed five new directors join the board from the Global Players membership group. Joerg Gmeinbauer, from Bureau Veritas, Gregory Erdmann from NRG Systems, Chris Antonopoulos from Lekela Power, Aaron Smith from Principle Power, and Xabier Irure from Ingeteam Power Technology were all elected to the board.

The meeting was attended by 32 companies alongside seven associations.
