With the top 20 markets remaining stable and select markets like Denmark setting additional targets, 2018 is setting the stage for annual growth. Strong offshore wind order intake in Europe and Asia led to a Q2 record, with order capacity increasing 100%+ YoY. Offshore wind to become China’s wind power driver
With more than 40GW of offshore projects in the pipeline, offshore wind power is on its way of turning into the main growth point of Chinese wind power. The country’s Fourteenth Five-Year Plan forecasts a rapid growth of offshore wind from 2021 to 2025, as the technology improves and the offshore supply chain matures. This growth is regionally concentrated in the provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, and Jiangsu, which will together install 90% of the project pipeline.
