The Women in Wind Global Leadership Program conducted its third Knowledge-Transfer Webinar of 2021 on the topic of “High-Impact Presentation Skills” earlier this week. The webinar was hosted by consultant Sonia Zavesky, convening participants of the program to discuss executive presentation skills, handling nerves, structuring communication, presenting in a virtual world and other topics.
The special edition of the Knowledge-Transfer Webinar was divided into two parts: The first part this week focused on skill-building and tools for presentation, while the second part (taking place in September) will form a closed-door session of lightning talks, live practice presentations and constructive feedback from Sonia and peer participants.
The presentation began with a discussion on executive presence and the power of communication, including how to be your best authentic self in a public speaking setting. The group was provided with practical step-by-step approaches for preparing and delivering presentations, including physical preparation for body and mind. The presentation then addressed live and virtual presentations, and tactics for ensuring an effective set-up of cameras and lighting for virtual presentations at home.
The group was then invited to ask questions, and there were many who took the opportunity to ask Sonia about delivering energetic presentations, the merits of virtual backgrounds, handling hostile audience members or hostile questions, and other issues.
The webinar will continue with the second part, comprising practice exercises, in September. Until then, our participants will have plenty of opportunity to apply the presentation skills learned as virtual meetings continue, and with a handy presentation template provided by Sonia.
