We are delighted to share that a total of 111 applications have been received for the 2020 edition of the Women in Wind Global Leadership Program!

Since closing the application round on 16 February, GWEC and GWNET have been reviewing the applications with great interest and enjoyment. As with last year, the quality of applications received has been very high, with strong statements of ambition and enthusiasm across the board. The pool has also expanded in terms of geographic diversity, as shown below.

Here are a few insights about this year’s applicant pool:

  • We received 111 applications, most of which came from nationals or residents of India, Brazil, Turkey and South Africa . Strong showings were also seen from Mexico, Vietnam and Russia.
  •  More than half of our applicants submitted video introductions – a great way to personalize their applications and reflect their character.
  • Around 10% of applicants indicated that they hold a PhD degree, while more than 50% indicates that they hold a Master’s degree.
  • More than 60% of applicants indicated expertise in engineering (wind turbines, systems, etc.), while nearly 40% indicated expertise in business development, marketing and stakeholder management, while 23% indicated expertise in project financing. An overview of the areas of expertise indicated by our applicants is below (applicants were able to select more than one area of expertise).

We express our tremendous appreciation to all of those who took the time to apply for the 2020 edition of Women in Wind Global Leadership Program. We will be announcing this year’s selected participants on 8 March, International Women’s Day.
