India’s wind power generation capacity crosses the 32 gw mark: IWTMA Becomes 4th largest country in terms of installed wind power capacity

According to Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA), the wind power generation capacity of the country has crossed 32 gigawatt (gw). As per media reports, India is at the fourth position after China, the US and Germany, in terms of installed wind capacity.

The government is set to add 5-6 megawatt (mw) of wind capacity each year to achieve the goal of 60 gw by 2022. In 2017-18, the government is set to auction four gw worth wind power projects (Refer here). According to Sarvesh Kumar, the chairman of IWTMA, the remainder of wind power capacity would be added by industry and institutions.
