France not to lift wind turbine distance requirement to 1 km

SeeNews

Members of the French parliament on April 15 voted against the proposed doubling of the minimum distance between wind turbines and homes to 1 km (0.62 miles), so it will remain unchanged at 500 metres.

The 1-km rule was proposed by the Senate. France's Wind Energy Association (FEE) had warned previously that if such an increase was accepted, approximately 85% of the country's territory would be "banned" for wind turbine installation. The actual distance to homes also depends on case-by-case evaluations of wind turbine plans.
