Brazil wind industry focus on policy changes, new auctions

In 2017, transition has another meaning in Brazil. The federal government’s policy changes toward a more market-oriented economy signify that future wind sector growth can no longer come mainly from yearly capacity auctions in the regulated power market.

Indeed, those auctions were suspended during the last two years amid economic and political strife including impeachment of the country’s president and leadership turnover in key government portfolios, as Brazil suffered through its worst recession in decades.
