Wind farms in the UK generated 140,588 MWh of electricity in the 24 hours ended at 1030 today, local time, thus reaching a 16.9% share in Britain’s total power generation.

According to National Grid (LON:NG), wind power generation today will peak at 6,540 MW.

These statistics and projections involve only 8,403 MW of wind farms that have operational metering, which makes them visible to NG. The actual wind farm output is far greater as the UK had 12,440 MW of operational wind farms at end 2014, including 4,494 MW of offshore wind, according to the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).
