Economic growth in India is opening up great potential for the development of renewable resources. Technological advancement in this sector is essential for meeting the ever increasing energy demand of the country. Offshore Wind Power in Gujarat has the potential to generate and deliver sustainable supplies of clean, renewable base load electricity. Very recently, the Government of India announced a draft offshore wind power policy which is under active discussion and finalisation. Gujarat, which is located on the western coast of India and has 1600 km long coastline, has great potential for offshore wind power projects.

This seminar will provide an opportunity for companies around the world to contribute towards the development of this sector, by providing expertise, equipment, services, finance and operational support for Offshore Wind Power development activities in Gujarat and India at large. With this in mind, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) in coordination with Government of Gujarat (GOG) and Gujarat Power Corporation Ltd. (GPCL) has organised “A one day workshop on Offshore Wind Power Potential in Gujarat” for deliberations related to the resource assessment, policies, issues & challenges. Government experts, researchers, industry, university representatives and consultants will share their experiences and information on a wide range of topics related to the successful implementation of offshore wind power projects. This workshop aims to bring various stakeholders from the wind sector on to one platform to understand their perspectives for successful growth of this sector.
