Indian offshore wind ambition advances with grid study

Recharge News

An international group paving the way for an Indian offshore wind sector has set out the steps needed to integrate future output into the grids of the two states expected to lead the way.

The FOWIND Consortium looked at the existing grid structures in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, and how prepared they are for a potential first wave of offshore wind projects in the early 2020s.

FOWIND – led by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and including global technology group DNV GL – has already identified the two states as the most suitable for development after initial assessment of factors such as wind conditions and potential support infrastructure.
