In 2009, the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and WindEurope joined forces to extend the reach from European wind associations and companies to coordinate Wind Day events across the globe (and changing the name to Global Wind Day).
Global Wind Day brings together communities, industry leaders, governments and campaigners across the world to celebrate wind energy – a clean, cost-effective and homegrown power source transforming our global energy system.
Each year on 15 June, events and campaigns highlight the benefits of wind energy and call for greater ambition to scale up deployment. From open days at wind farms to community events, exhibitions, educational workshops and digital campaigns, Global Wind Day is a reminder that wind energy is already delivering clean power, creating jobs and contributing to a more sustainable and secure future.
