India: The Global Wind Energy Council-led Fowind consortium has published its study into offshore wind development for two of the country’s states.

From Zero to Five GW: Offshore Wind Outlook for Gujurat and Tamil Nadu (2018-2032) investigates how much offshore wind could reasonably be built, operated and incorporated into the states’ grids over the next 15 years.

“The 5GW should not viewed as the best-case assessment, or as a proposed target that the two states should adopt,” the report said.

“[It] should serve as indicative guidance that helps to focus the attention of policy makers and private industry into proactively developing India’s offshore wind sector along with its entire ancillary infrastructure and supply chain to scale.”
