The Centre is mulling to set up offshore facilities to generate more wind power as part of its efforts to make India a leader in wind energy, Union Minister Farooq Abdullah said today.

“We are also thinking that the time has come to go into the sea to generate more power from there also,” the New and Renewable Energy Minister said at the ‘Wind Power India 2012’ conference.

The event was jointly organised by Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association and Global Wind Energy Council.
