MHI Vestas Offshore Wind joins the Global Wind Energy Council

1 August, Brussels-Aarhus – MHI Vestas, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of offshore wind turbines, has joined the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), the trade body which represents the global wind industry. 

The company will join GWEC’s board of directors and play an active role in GWEC’s work to open up markets for offshore wind around the world.

Europe adds 4.5 GW of wind energy in first half of 2018

Europe added 4.5 GW of wind energy capacity in the first half of 2018, according to figures released today by WindEurope. The figure is down on the same period last year (6.1 GW) though is in line with expectations.

There was 3.3 GW of onshore wind, driven by Germany (1.6 GW), France (605 MW) and Denmark (202 MW).

German Onshore wind – Policy action needed now to achieve German and European climate targets

Berlin, 26 July 2018 – Following the record expansion year 2017 for onshore wind energy in Germany, new installations are declining in 2018 as expected.
