Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE), panelist at Windaba 2013

ARE Vice President Balthasar Klimbie will attend Windaba 2013 on September 25-27 in South Africa to present the outcomes of the position paper The potential of small and medium wind energy in developing countries. A guide for energy sector decision-makers. This paper was developed by ARE as core of the Small Wind Campaign and includes key recommendations and best practices for the correct implementation of small wind projects. The most common bottlenecks are also addressed, such as the lack of feasibility studies and assessment of wind speed data, the lack of quality standards and certifications, and insufficient financing mechanisms.

The Small Wind Campaign was a one-year initiative that run until June 2013 with the objective of informing decision makers in developing countries about the benefits of small wind to integrate this technology in their energy choices for rural communities.
